Bernardo Thrilled as Man City Triumphs Over Arsenal in Tense Penalty Showdown
Bernardo Silva stated that Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal is ‘very big’ for the Premier League title race.
Pep Guardiola’s team defeated the league leaders, narrowing the gap to just three points with a game in hand. The highly anticipated match turned in City’s favor, thanks to Erling Haaland’s goal in the second half.
City initially took the lead with a stunning goal from Rayan Cherki, but Arsenal equalized shortly after when Kai Havertz intercepted Gianluigi Donnarumma’s clearance, resulting in an unfortunate own goal by the Italian.
Both teams had opportunities to secure a win, but Haaland ensured City came out on top by scoring the crucial goal.
Arsenal pushed for a late equalizer, and were lucky that Gabriel avoided a red card for a headbutt on Haaland. Havertz squandered a golden opportunity by heading over the bar from a good position.
Arsenal’s form is concerning, with just one win in their last six matches, while City looks to seize momentum. A win against Burnley could see City climb to the top of the table.
“Very big because it puts us in a position if we win our game in hand we’re on the same points,” Silva commented to Sky Sports regarding the victory.
“Two weeks ago this didn’t look very likely, this scenario. I’m happy we can be on the same points.”
When asked if he believed the title was now in Manchester City’s hands, Silva responded: “It’s a long season. A lot of small details didn’t go our way this season. We’ve also had some unfortunate moments, we missed many opportunities. There have been many matches we should have won. Today, things went our way. I’m really happy.”
