Guardiola praises Arsenal’s victory as a strong showcase for the Premier League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised his team’s victory over Arsenal as an excellent showcase for the Premier League.

City narrowed the gap on Arsenal in the title race to just three points following a 2-1 triumph at the Etihad. Rayan Cherki’s stunning solo effort initiated the scoring for the Blues, but Arsenal quickly equalized as Kai Havertz capitalized on a significant error from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

City secured a winner in the second half, with Erling Haaland finding the net for his 23rd goal of the Premier League season. Now, the Citizens aim to leapfrog Arsenal in the table with a win at Burnley during their game in hand.

Guardiola urged the Citizens to savor their win against ‘one of the most competitive teams’ he has encountered in his managerial career.

In remarks to Sky Sports, he stated: “It was a good advert for the Premier League. They don’t allow you to go through the process; they’re so aggressive.

“They excel in duels and are one of the most competitive teams I have ever faced regarding duels and one-on-one situations, long balls with Havertz and Rice, and second balls – fantastic.”

“We had momentum, they had momentum; we had chances, they had chances. In games like these, it’s about little margins.”

“Both teams are strong – with really top managers! And excellent players on both sides.”

“I’ve been very demanding, but the truth is, it’s just one game. They are top of the league by a goal difference [better than City].”

“We must enjoy this, celebrate our success, but stay focused. The next emphasis is on Burnley in three days.”
