Tottenham vs Brighton: Expected Starting XI, Latest Team Updates, and Injury News for Today’s Premier League Match
Roberto De Zerbi and Spurs still missing several key players in relegation fight
The Italian goalkeeper missed last weekend’s 1-0 defeat by Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge, having undergone hernia surgery over the international break.
It was anticipated that Vicario would regain fitness this week, but he missed training as De Zerbi confirmed he won't be available for the Brighton match.
“Vicario, no (he is not fit). Vicario is another top guy. I'm looking forward to working with him. Anyway, [Antonin] Kinsky played very well in Sunderland,” De Zerbi said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“But Vicario is another important player for us. Big experience, big character, personality. And we are waiting for him.”
Vicario joins a long list of Spurs absentees that includes captain Cristian Romero and winger Mohammed Kudus.
Romero will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained against Sunderland, while Kudus suffered a setback in his recovery from a serious quad injury last week.

Without Romero, De Zerbi needs to decide who should partner Micky van de Ven at centre-back.
Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin are both available, but given Danso replaced Romero against Sunderland, he is likely to continue alongside Van de Ven.
“We have Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso,” De Zerbi said. “They are able to play well, to give us quality with the ball and to be strong in defensive space.”
De Zerbi faces the challenge of a growing injury list but welcomes the return of Rodrigo Bentancur from a hamstring injury.
Bentancur has been out since January after surgery, and he returned to training this week. De Zerbi mentioned that the Uruguayan would be in consideration to play against Brighton, although his fitness to start is still uncertain.
Bentancur’s return aligns with De Zerbi seeking solutions in midfield, especially after the team struggled against Sunderland.
In that match, De Zerbi utilized Conor Gallagher, Archie Gray, and Lucas Bergvall, who were unable to turn the tide before Sunderland took the lead in the 61st minute through Nordi Mukiele’s deflected goal.
With De Zerbi’s midfield not making the desired impact, Bentancur may step straight back into the starting lineup, while calls for Xavi Simons to play have increased this week.

Decisions are also needed on the wings, with Randal Kolo Muani and Richarlison both facing fitness issues after Sunderland.
Mathys Tel remains the only fit, natural winger in Spurs’ squad, leading to suggestions that De Zerbi made a mistake by not starting him ahead of Richarlison last weekend.
Spurs find themselves in a crucial situation with just six matches remaining and only two points separating them from 17th-place West Ham.
They will meet a resurgent Brighton side, eager for their first league victory of the calendar year as they aim to avoid relegation.
Predicted Tottenham XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Udogie; Gray, Bissouma, Gallagher; Kolo Muani, Tel; Solanke
