Rosenior Provides Injury Updates on Estevao and Fernandez Following Loss to Manchester United

Liam Rosenior has given updates on the fitness of Estevao Willian and Enzo Fernandez following their exits during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Estevao started the crucial Premier League match and looked poised to score before hitting the post.

However, he injured himself chasing a lofted pass behind United's defense.

Despite medical attention, the young talent limped off in the 16th minute.

Fernandez returned to the lineup after missing two games due to controversial remarks.

The Argentine had to leave the field in the 88th minute.

In his post-match press conference, Rosenior spoke about Estevao: “He was crying at half time – it was really devastating for him.

“It looks like it’s his hamstring, and that has happened in a moment when he’s running through on their goal for a one-v-one chance – he pulls his hamstring in that moment.

“I hope Este comes back sooner rather than later.”

On Fernandez, Rosenior added: “I’m hoping it’s cramp – he’s getting work on it right now because we want him, obviously, fit for Tuesday [against Brighton and Hove Albion].”

Saturday’s defeat was a significant setback for Chelsea in their quest for Champions League football next season.

The Blues had the opportunity to close the gap with fifth-placed Liverpool ahead of the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Yet, they were unable to break through United’s defense, despite Michael Carrick using Noussair Mazraoui and Ayden Heaven as makeshift center-backs due to an injury to Leny Yoro.

Matheus Cunha netted the winning goal in the 43rd minute, with the Red Devils moving 10 points clear of the London team.

Chelsea has now recorded four consecutive Premier League defeats for only the second time this century.
