Injury Updates for Nottingham Forest Following Europa League Win

Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira anticipates that Chris Wood and Murillo will be available for the upcoming match against Burnley, although Callum Hudson-Odoi is set for some time on the sidelines.

The club recently celebrated their first European semi-final appearance since 1984, with Morgan Gibbs-White's goal helping secure a 2-1 aggregate victory over Porto in the Europa League quarter-final, leading to an all-English last-four confrontation with Aston Villa.

While it was a historic night, Forest's precarious position in the Premier League remains a concern, exacerbated by the injuries to Wood, Murillo, and Hudson-Odoi, all of whom had to leave the field during the game.

Wood sustained a knee injury during a challenge that resulted in Jan Bednarek's dismissal, Murillo picked up a knock, and Hudson-Odoi was seen gripping his thigh.

Pereira remains hopeful regarding the recovery of both Wood and Murillo, but Hudson-Odoi was observed departing the stadium on crutches.

The Portuguese coach stated: “I’m not a doctor but I think Chris and Murillo will not have serious issues. Of course, Chris has a bruise on his knee, but I believe both he and Murillo will be ready for Burnley.”

“Callum has a muscle injury and that’s the unfortunate news.”

“My focus remains on the next match; we need to bring energy. I need to recharge like a Tesla, but after a victory, recovery is easier than after a loss.”

“When you lose, recovering from the headache is more challenging. We aim to be in the best shape for Sunday.”

Forest's advancement in Europe came on a night where the club rallied in support of England international Elliot Anderson, whose mother passed away shortly before the match.

Gibbs-White honored his teammate by holding up a shirt during his celebration that read, ‘Family first, we’re all with you’.

Pereira commented: “It’s a very sad situation. Everyone plays with Elliot in their hearts.”

“We think of him; my condolences go to the family. We’re here to support him and we’ll see if he can feature in the next match.”

“I told my players after the game that it’s an honor to manage this group.”

“When we fight for each other, we stand by those who are suffering.”

“That’s why I’m incredibly proud of my team.”

Not since the days of Clough has Forest witnessed such continental success, having previously won back-to-back European Cups and reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals within five years.

Now, a two-legged matchup against Premier League rivals Aston Villa presents another opportunity for European glory.

“It’s crucial to bring joy to the supporters, to unite the team with the fans, and to believe,” he stated.

“We feel we are forging something special—a spirit of competition, mutual enjoyment, celebration, and shared struggle; this represents the true essence of our club.”
