Roberto De Zerbi believes Tottenham can turn things around and achieve a winning streak.

Roberto De Zerbi rallied his dispirited Tottenham players, insisting they can win their final five Premier League matches to escape relegation.

Spurs remain in the bottom three after a last-minute 2-2 draw at home against Brighton, where Georginio Rutter’s stoppage-time equalizer denied them their first league win of 2026.

A stunning strike from Xavi Simons sent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into jubilation, but the north London side's winless league streak has now extended to 15 matches following late drama in N17, with Pedro Porro’s opener countered by a magnificent volley from Kaoru Mitoma.

Despite the emotional collapse at full-time, De Zerbi expressed renewed confidence in their chance of survival after earning his first point as manager against his former club, Brighton.

West Ham currently sit a point ahead of Tottenham in 17th place before their upcoming match against Crystal Palace, but De Zerbi is optimistic about his squad’s potential to secure victories in their remaining fixtures against Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea, and Everton to avert relegation for the first time since 1977.

“I always believed in the quality of the players,” De Zerbi affirmed.

“They played well, and I believe we can perform even better with more quality and calm, especially in possession. Right now, we need spirit, attitude, and mentality.”

“It’s not over yet. We have five games left. Everyone knows this is a challenging moment, but we have another five games and 15 points available.”

“This team is capable of winning five consecutive matches. It might be hard to accept my words right now, but if you examine our players, we can achieve it.”

“I am not being arrogant, but we have enough quality to compete and secure consecutive wins.”

When asked how he would motivate his players, De Zerbi warned any gloomy members of the team.

De Zerbi stated: “They need to be stronger, focused, and show up to training on Monday with a smile, otherwise they can go home.”

“I do not have time for negativity or sad players. We’re fortunate to work at a great club, in a fantastic stadium, and in the Premier League, equipped with the quality to win games—so we must stay positive. I dislike those who complain and dwell on negativity.”

Brighton’s coach Fabian Hurzeler supported De Zerbi’s perspective, believing Spurs can avoid relegation.

“Absolutely,” Hurzeler remarked. “I mentioned this before the match. They possess individual quality and have outstanding players in their squad.”

“Their attacking lineup can make a difference, and they have the quality needed to make it happen.”

Brighton is currently ninth, just a point behind seventh-placed Brentford in the race for European slots.

“In the end, it’s a point we’ll take and can reflect positively on. That’s our responsibility,” Hurzeler added.
