Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur Compete for Savinho’s Ready-Made Replacement: Report

Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool have apparently “inquired” about a standout player from Everton.

It appears they are all on the lookout for a Premier League-experienced player to enhance their squads, and Everton might have what they need.

Spurs were close to turning to City during the summer to address their wide issues, with a £60million bid for winger Savinho reportedly turned down by the Manchester club.

Considering the Brazilian's performance this season, that seems to be a missed opportunity for Pep Guardiola's squad, who are also aiming to enhance their attacking line.

As reported by Foot Mercato, both clubs involved in potential negotiations are expected to compete for the signature of Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye.

The 25-year-old has had a solid start to the season, scoring four goals and registering one assist in 13 Premier League matches so far.

He presents an appealing option for teams since he can play on both wings, as a forward, or in deeper attacking positions; an ideal fit for City, who might need backup for Erling Haaland but would find it challenging to allocate minutes to another specialist number nine. Extra support in the wide areas would also be beneficial, especially with Savinho not performing at his best.

Remarkably, Liverpool has also reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Ndiaye from their Merseyside rivals, marking the first senior transfer between the two clubs since Abel Xavier switched from blue to red back in 2002.

The Toffees signed Ndiaye from Marseille in the summer of 2024 for around £15m and have him under contract until 2029, positioning themselves advantageously when it comes to negotiating his sale.

According to eScored, moves from Spurs and City are certainly plausible, and a deal would undeniably strengthen Everton’s financial position while likely providing the Senegal international with European competition.

On the other hand, a transfer to Liverpool would be more complex, as fans might not accept selling a key player to their primary rivals.

The Reds have shown they are willing to invest, and could present Everton with an irresistible offer, but it would require something exceptional for it not to negatively affect the atmosphere around Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Ndiaye is valued at €35m, as noted by Transfermarkt. Everton’s next match is against Bournemouth when Premier League action resumes this week.
