“That’s ultimately what you want as a player,” Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen remarked. “What brings me joy is that Joel continues to perform well despite the interest.

“You can’t control when a transfer might take place. It could be in the winter, or we might prefer to wait until after this season.”

Given Slot's uncertainty about the duration of Konate's absence, having additional defensive options from January would certainly be advantageous.
