Ryan Reynolds Plans to Relocate Club in New Business Endeavor: Report

Reports indicate that Ryan Reynolds has acquired a significant stake in a newly established football club.

Alongside co-investor Rob McElhenney, Reynolds has achieved notable success since their takeover of Wrexham, with the Welsh team experiencing consecutive promotions from the National League to League Two in recent times.

Having been in charge at the Racecourse since 2020, Reynolds is poised to expand his business interests with another team that aims to benefit from his considerable wealth and extensive network.

As reported by Express Sport, Reynolds, along with his investment group Tylis-Porter, has acquired ownership of Colombian team Equidad FC, which competes in Colombia’s top division, the Categoria Primera A.

Other involved investors reportedly include baseball star Justin Verlander and former Arsenal and Real Madrid player Mesut Ozil. Additionally, actress Eva Longoria is rumored to be part of the investment group.

Equidad FC announced this thrilling development on social media, stating: “The presentation of the new owners of Equidad (@equidadfutbol) will be in January.

“Famous investors from the TYLIS-PORTER group like EVA LONGORIA, RYAN REYNOLDS, and JUSTIN VERLANDER (baseball player) will be in Bogota, the team’s headquarters. Carlos Zuluaga will continue as president indefinitely.”

A significant transformation could be imminent for the Colombian team, with mentions of potential changes to its name and location. Attracting new fans has been a challenge due to the strong presence of local rivals Club Deportivo Los Millonarios and Independiente Santa Fe.

“Not only is the name change being evaluated, but also the change of city. It is one of the alternatives, although the name is almost a fact. Next week the document has to be signed to make the transfer official,” Colombian journalist Felipe Sierra recently commented on ‘Sin Boleta’.

In FourFourTwo’s view, South American fans are characterized by their fervor, so Reynolds and his investors must proceed cautiously to avoid alienating the fan base.

However, excitement is expected to build, similar to the enthusiasm seen in Wrexham following their high-profile takeover and substantial investment in both the football club and the local community.
