Pep Guardiola Takes Responsibility for Man City’s Poor Performance
Pep Guardiola candidly acknowledged that he is “not good enough” to guide Manchester City through their ongoing crisis after suffering a surprising late loss to arch-rivals Manchester United.
Manchester City has endured eight defeats in their last 11 matches across all competitions, nearly double the number of losses (10) they experienced throughout the 2023/24 season.

City has garnered only four points from a possible 15 in the Premier League, effectively diminishing their hopes of clinching a historic fifth consecutive title.
“I’m the boss, I’m the manager, and I need to find solutions, but I can’t,” Guardiola bluntly admitted following the latest defeat, taking personal responsibility.
“This is a big club, and when you lose eight [out of 11 games], something is off. You can point to a tough schedule or player injuries, but that’s not it. I’m the manager, and I’m not good enough, plain and simple. I have to find a way to communicate with them and train them in the style we need to play, to press as required. I’m not doing well. That’s the truth.”
City has slipped to fifth in the Premier League standings, trailing surprise package Nottingham Forest by a point. They are also seven points behind Chelsea in second place and nine off the leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
