Tottenham Targets Surprise Move for Liverpool’s Versatile Premier League Star

Tottenham are stepping up their chase for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo as January looms large.

Semenyo is the talk of the town, with a host of Premier League heavyweights, including Tottenham, all eagerly vying to snap him up.

This interest from Spurs isn't new; it dates back to the summer. They even had a nibble back then, but Bournemouth weren't having any of it.

Tottenham ramp up their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo

According to the latest buzz from Sky Sports, Spurs are reigniting their interest and cranking up their efforts to secure Semenyo's services.

In the first half of the 2025 summer window, Spurs were keen on Semenyo, but Bournemouth’s hefty £70m+ asking price put them off.

Now that his release clause has come to light, Tottenham know they need to fork out £60m, along with £5m in bonuses, to activate it.

The latest word suggests Spurs are gearing up to meet that price this time, but they'll have to fend off the likes of City and Liverpool who are also keen.

Liverpool now face stiff competition

It’s also been noted that Semenyo himself fancies a switch to Liverpool, even more than his childhood team Arsenal, who are also in the mix.

But it's not just the London clubs; Manchester's top teams are in the race too. Manchester United reportedly had a brush-off from Semenyo last summer.

Meanwhile, reports from The Times suggest that Manchester City are contemplating triggering Semenyo's release clause in January as well.

With a number of clubs now keen to activate his release clause, it's anyone's guess where Semenyo will end up.

Football Paparazzi covered the reasons why Semenyo is leaning towards Liverpool over Arsenal.

They highlighted: ‘guaranteed game time; a starring role during Salah’s AFCON absence; a long-term succession plan; and Hughes’ direct involvement’.

Yet, with Spurs and Man City also making their intentions clear, it’s anyone’s guess where Semenyo will pitch up.

One thing’s for sure, though: the Cherries ace could be on the move come January.
