Official: Arsenal Announce the Signing of Twin Brothers

Premier League leaders Arsenal have secured a significant deal to sign twin brothers Edwin Quintero and Holger Quintero from Ecuador’s renowned academy side Independiente del Valle.

The agreement will see the 16-year-old talents formally join the North London club in August 2027, coinciding with their 18th birthdays.

According to Arsenal’s official statement, the Quintero twins are recognized as “two of the most exciting young talents in South America,” emphasizing their impressive performances at youth levels for both club and country.

The swift move by the Gunners is strategic. Independiente del Valle has a history of excellent youth development, producing notable players like Moisés Caicedo and current Gunner Piero Hincapié.

Arsenal scouted the twin brothers for a long time

Arsenal sources confirmed that the twins have been monitored by the club for over a year, with scouts assessing their performances in youth competitions.

Edwin Quintero is a left-footed right-winger known for explosive speed, dazzling dribbling, and innate ability to outmaneuver defenders one-on-one. Local media have drawn comparisons to a young Neymar due to his flair and offensive instincts.

Holger Quintero, a technically proficient attacking midfielder, operates centrally. He has sharp vision, creative passing, and quick feet that allow him to navigate tight spaces, marking him as an intriguing future playmaker.

Both have already played for Ecuador at the U-17 level, highlighting their talent on an international scale and signaling their potential for senior international duties.

This deal's timing and structure reflect Arsenal's commitment to long-term success through youth development rather than quick fixes.

By signing at 16 and waiting until 18 for their arrival, they’re adhering to regulations while allowing the twins two vital years for growth, likely continuing development with Independiente del Valle before joining Arsenal’s youth, then senior, systems.

The Quintero twins are expected to stay with Independiente del Valle during the 2025–26 and 2026-27 seasons, further honing their physical and technical skills before their transition.

Upon their move in 2027, they will likely join Arsenal’s youth setup, but given their talent, a pathway to first-team action is plausible, especially following the successful integration of young talents like Myles Lewis-Skelly and Max Dowman.
