Manchester United Secures Deal to Sign Midfielder Named ‘The Next Moisés Caicedo’ – Report

Manchester United have reportedly finalized a deal to bring in a young midfielder referred to as “the next Moises Caicedo.”

The Red Devils are actively seeking a midfielder, especially with Casemiro’s contract expiring in the summer, and players like Manuel Ugarte apparently not meeting Ruben Amorim’s expectations.

Even though the transfer window is currently closed, the Old Trafford outfit has acted to strengthen their midfield.

Chelsea star Caicedo was scouted by United while he was still a minor at Independiente de Valle in 2021, but the Red Devils chose to cease their pursuit.

He ultimately joined Brighton, and it soon became clear that the Manchester club had made a mistake, as Caicedo was later sold to the Blues for a £115m fee.

Now, according to El Diario, United have set their sights on a player projected to be the next Caicedo, a teenager named Cristian Orozco.

The 17-year-old currently plays for Fortaleza CEIF in Colombia’s top division, and according to recent reports, United have reached a $1m agreement for the midfielder.

It is anticipated that the Colombian youth international will join the Red Devils next summer after turning 18, in compliance with regulations regarding young players.

Orozco has been described as a modern defensive midfielder, possessing strong ball recovery skills and precise passing; he has a more technical style akin to Caicedo, as opposed to a physical presence like Casemiro.

Should Orozco sign with United and advance to the first team, it’s certain that he will occupy that role.

According to eScored, this is indeed the type of player United should be targeting.

However, with Casemiro potentially leaving next summer, the Red Devils need someone who can make an immediate impact, rather than a player who will require years of development.

If they acquire Orozco, they will still need to find a similar player who is further along in their development.

Manchester United's next match is against West Ham United as Premier League action resumes this week.
