Manchester United and Chelsea Player Receives Six-Month Ban for ‘Reprehensible Conduct’: Report
Former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has maintained a longstanding connection with Argentine club Estudiantes.
This is the team where he initially emerged as a talent in the 1990s and eventually concluded his playing career two decades later.

Veron's tenure in England was less fruitful, as he spent two years at Manchester United before moving to a newly-formed Chelsea in 2003.
His time at Stamford Bridge officially spanned four years, but three of those seasons were spent on loan at Inter Milan and Estudiantes, ultimately leading to his return to his childhood club in 2007.
Since hanging up his boots, Veron has taken on the role of president at the La Plata-based club, recently making headlines for reportedly directing his players to turn their backs on rivals Rosario Central during a guard of honour.
Rosario was recognized as ‘league champions' for finishing atop Argentina's Primera Division, though the league's championship is determined through an end-of-season playoff knockout competition rather than a straightforward table finish.
In protest of Rosario's title, Estudiantes players lined up to greet the ‘league champions' at the Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi before their Clausura last-16 playoff match. Instead of applauding Rosario's players onto the field, Estudiantes, in a unified effort, turned their backs.
As a consequence, Veron has received a ‘six-month suspension from all football-related activities' imposed by the AFA. Additionally, Estudiantes players who participated in the “unacceptable behavior” have been suspended for two matches starting next season.
Estudiantes were compelled by the AFA to extend a guard of honor to Rosario Central after this tweet, and they complied today by TURNING THEIR BACKS on the ‘champions'. Unprecedented scenes! November 23, 2025
