Leeds Shock Chelsea at Elland Road

Leeds secured a vital 3-1 victory over Chelsea, ending their four-game losing streak and giving a significant blow to the Blues' title hopes. This win marks a crucial moment for Leeds, lifting them above the relegation zone.

Leeds ended a four-game losing streak with a superb 3-1 win over Chelsea at Elland Road, handing the Blues a significant blow in the Premier League title race.

The Whites were quick out of the blocks and took the lead inside six minutes. Anton Stach’s corner found Jaka Bijol, who rose unmarked to head past Robert Sánchez and give the hosts an early advantage.

The Blues struggled to respond despite controlling possession for long periods, unable to break down Leeds’ disciplined defensive setup.

Daniel Farke‘s side doubled their lead just before half-time when Jayden Bogle found Ao Tanaka on the edge of the box. The Japanese midfielder unleashed a swerving strike into the top corner, marking his first Premier League goal and the first by an Asian player for Leeds in the top flight.

Enzo Maresca‘s men showed signs of life after the break. Half-time substitute Pedro Neto scored in the 50th minute, converting Jamie Gittens’ cross at the far post to give the visitors hope of a comeback.

Cole Palmer, making his first appearance since September, had a chance to level but dragged a low shot wide following a fine run from Alejandro Garnacho.

However, the hosts restored their two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute when Tosin Adarabioyo’s misplaced pass allowed Noah Okafor to feed Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who prodded home from close range to seal the win.

The victory lifts Leeds to 17th in the table, three points above the relegation zone, providing a crucial boost for Daniel Farke amid pressure over his job. Chelsea, meanwhile, remain fourth with 24 points, now nine adrift of leaders Arsenal, and were overtaken in the standings by Aston Villa following the defeat.
