A long-standing legal battle over La Liga's television revenue distribution from the 2015/16 season has culminated in a significant ruling, leading to a hefty fine for the league. Following extensive legal proceedings that traversed through the National Court, the Supreme Court of Spain has rendered a final verdict.

As reported by Marca, the disagreement was rooted in the “unlawful distribution of television revenue” during that period, prompting the high court's directive for a substantial financial payout by La Liga.

The ruling mandates that “La Liga must pay €8.8 million to Real Madrid.” Additionally, a greater sum of “€88 million will be distributed among 22 clubs that competed in Spain’s second division at the time,” providing substantial support to the affected clubs.

This financial judgment wraps up a significant chapter off the pitch, while harmony appears to be returning on-field for one of the implicated clubs. It has been confirmed that the previously reported “dispute between Vinícius and Xabi Alonso has been completely resolved,” with the player now “fully confident in Real Madrid’s project and in Alonso’s work.” The conclusion of this prolonged legal dispute signifies a notable transition in Spanish football governance.
