Mikel Merino has been tasked with leading the attack during Gyokeres' recent absence, with the Spaniard delivering solid performances in recent wins over Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
However, with Chelsea, managed by Enzo Maresca, on the horizon, many believe the Gunners would significantly benefit from having the Swedish international back in the lineup. Arteta has provided a somewhat vague update in recent days.

As mentioned by the Spaniard prior to Bayern's visit, both Gyokeres and fellow forward Kai Havertz will be closely monitored over the next 48-72 hours.
“Both of them are doing really well,” he stated. “In the coming days, they will undergo a repeat scan to assess their conditions and determine how we can utilize them this weekend.”
“We need to evaluate each individual and ensure they are prepared, whether it’s to start in a game like this or to assess how long they can play.”
“We must also be cautious about how many of these players we field, as most may not be able to complete 90 minutes. So, we need to be deliberate about our substitutions and the timing of those changes.”
“This will help us make efficient decisions throughout the game, and we'll plan accordingly.”

Arsenal is also hopeful about Gabriel Jesus' anticipated return, as the Brazil international approaches recovery from his ACL injury sustained last season.
It is believed the Gunners will play Manchester United in a closed-door friendly next week, with the Red Devils eager to provide Lisandro Martinez with some much-needed minutes.
