Dominik Szoboszlai criticizes the ‘unacceptable’ circumstances at Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has expressed his frustration over Liverpool’s recent performance, deeming it unacceptable and acknowledging the need for significant improvements to regain their winning form.

Liverpool has suffered nine losses in their last 14 matches across all competitions, including six out of their last nine in the Premier League, making Szoboszlai skeptical about their chances for a top-four finish.

Following a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Anfield, Liverpool travels to face Leeds, marking three consecutive home matches without a victory.

Szoboszlai remarked: “As a Liverpool player, we shouldn't settle for this situation, drawing at home. Sunderland is strong, but last year, we wouldn't have lost points like this at Anfield. That’s what we are currently lacking.”

“We need to return to winning ways, but there’s a lot to address. It’s about the entire team and the overall circumstance, and we must find solutions. I believe we have individuals who can devise ideas, and we’ll see how it unfolds.”

“Our goal is to get back to winning, and we are actively working towards that every day. Each morning, we aim to find solutions to win on weekends or during the week. It’s a focus, but things aren’t working as well as we desire.”

Before a recent win over West Ham, Liverpool had slipped into the bottom half of the league table, and Szoboszlai is not considering Champions League qualification at this time.

He remarked, “Right now, we should prioritize our own performance rather than aiming for the top four. There’s a long road ahead, as we've seen in the Premier League’s history with many turnarounds.”

Szoboszlai emphasized that the responsibility for improving Liverpool's fortunes lies with both the players and head coach Arne Slot.

“He will come up with solutions, but it’s not just his role,” he said. “We players also have a part to play since we are on the pitch. He can provide the structure and ideas, but we must give our best effort, and that's what we strive to do in every match.”
