Chelsea vs Leeds: Latest Team News, Predicted Lineup, and Injury Updates for Premier League Clash
The Blues are gearing up to welcome back Cole Palmer as Reece James takes a breather.
Chelsea's very own Cole Palmer is set to make his return from injury for the clash against Leeds.
Palmer was fit and raring to go last Sunday against Arsenal, but ended up sitting on the sidelines after Moises Caicedo’s red card left the Blues a man down in the first half.
However, Palmer “can start” against Leeds on Wednesday, as confirmed by Enzo Maresca at his press conference on Tuesday morning.
On the flip side, Caicedo will miss one of three league matches as he serves his suspension following the sending-off against Arsenal.
Dario Essugo has hit a hurdle and won't be in the squad as he awaits his first minutes of the season, meaning Andrey Santos is likely to step up and provide some much-needed midfield cover in Caicedo’s absence.
Reece James might get a well-deserved rest after a tireless showing in midfield against Arsenal, leaving Malo Gusto to retain his spot at right-back.
In the heart of the defence, Benoit Badiashile is likely to start either in this match or in the upcoming clashes against Bournemouth or Atalanta, while Tosin Adarabioyo could come in for Wesley Fofana, who’s being carefully managed with his minutes.
Pedro Neto is the player to watch on the wing and should keep his place, while Liam Delap might just pip Joao Pedro to start up front against Leeds, as his style could suit the opposition's low-block tactics a bit better.
Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella; Santos, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Garnacho; Delap
Injured: Essugo, Lavia, Colwill
