Mohamed Salah Celebrated for Renewing Liverpool Contract Amid Significant Saga Update

Mohamed Salah has received congratulations from a fellow Egyptian for finalizing his contract extension with Liverpool, seemingly resolving the ongoing speculation regarding his future at Anfield beyond the current season.

With his existing contract set to end after the 2024/25 season, Liverpool was under pressure to secure Salah’s services or face the risk of losing him for nothing in the summer. The Egyptian star would have been eligible to negotiate with clubs outside of England starting in January, paving the way for a potential free transfer come July 2025.

However, Liverpool’s concerns seem to have dissipated, as one of Salah’s fellow countrymen has confirmed that he has signed a new contract at Anfield.

Former defender Haytham Farouk, who represented Egypt from 1993 to 1999, now serves as a pundit for the broadcaster beIN Sports.

Farouk took to X to share a photo of himself with Salah, which was paired with a congratulatory note regarding the Liverpool star’s reported contract extension at Anfield.

“Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want,” Farouk said. “The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments.”

This season, Salah is arguably in the best form of his career at Liverpool under coach Arne Slot, with an impressive tally of 13 goals and eight assists over 14 Premier League matches. The 32-year-old forward has shown enhanced efficiency in front of goal, making his scoring prowess even more evident.

Nevertheless, according to eScored, it’s unclear whether substantial progress has been made in contract discussions. On November 25, Salah indicated that he felt “closer to leaving than staying” at Liverpool beyond this season, mentioning that no offers had been presented from the club’s hierarchy.

A sudden turnaround in the situation in less than two weeks seems improbable, especially considering the intricate nature of modern contract negotiations.
