Liverpool Reportedly Reaches Agreement with Jeremie Frimpong for Transfer
Liverpool have been in discussions with Jeremie Frimpong, with the Dutch player seemingly giving the green light for a transfer.
The Bayer Leverkusen talent – currently placed at no.3 in eScored’s top right-backs globally – had an outstanding previous season, securing the Double with Bayer Leverkusen while excelling as the dynamic right wing-back in Xabi Alonso’s 3-4-3 formation.
Despite the growing interest in him, it seems he has opted to make a return to England – having spent a significant part of his life there, including his time at Manchester City’s academy and at Celtic.
Liverpool may replace Trent Alexander-Arnold with Jeremie Frimpong
Liverpool have less than 30 days to finalize a contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold before he can negotiate a pre-contract with Real Madrid.
The England international is on the brink of a transfer, as his current contract at Anfield is set to expire next summer – leading Arne Slot to consider a future without Alexander-Arnold.
Writing for Sky Sports Switzerland, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported “trustworthy” details that Frimpong has granted his “approval” for a move to Liverpool.
The right-back has been discussing terms with the Reds, and a strong rapport with Leverkusen is seen as a key element in potentially finalizing a transfer.
“[Frimpong’s] style of attacking football aligns perfectly with Arne Slot’s philosophy, which demands effective contributions from the wings to disrupt opposing defenses,” Tavolieri notes. “At just 23 years of age, the Dutchman has significant potential for development, which the ‘Slot Touch’ could enhance.”
In eScored’s view, this serves as a strong indication that Alexander-Arnold’s exit is imminent – and while this new information suggests that securing Frimpong’s signature could be on the horizon, nothing is settled yet, as Liverpool still need to negotiate a fee with Bayer Leverkusen.
eScored believes that the German club may hold out for a substantial fee, especially with the Dutchman’s €40 million release clause expiring over the summer.
Frimpong is currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt. Liverpool is set to face Newcastle United this week when Premier League action resumes.
