Liverpool Set to Sign Superstar in Bold Statement of Intent: Report
Liverpool is preparing to secure the signing of a truly world-class talent as they aim to take advantage of Arne Slot’s impressive managerial debut.
Having accumulated 35 points out of a possible 42 at the beginning of the season, the Premier League now appears to be Liverpool’s to manage, with the team also performing strongly in the Champions League and reaching the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
The club aims to strengthen their squad from a position of power, with the latest player linked to the club showcasing genuine quality.
Liverpool shows serious interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
As reported by Give Me Sport, Liverpool has maintained a long-lasting interest in Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with a potential transfer in 2025 becoming increasingly feasible as the Georgian delays signing a new contract with the Serie A club.
Despite having more than two years left on his current contract, Napoli is keen to avoid losing Kvaratskhelia for a cut-price deal in upcoming transfer windows and might consider selling him for the right price in the summer of 2025. Transfermarkt estimates the 23-year-old’s value at €80m, although he would likely demand an even higher fee.
The report also mentions that top executives are particularly keen on acquiring the forward, who has netted five goals and provided three assists during this campaign.
Having played as both a left-winger and a second-striker, Kvaratskhelia aligns well with Arne Slot’s tactical approach at Liverpool, yet he would encounter significant competition for a starting role. The likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez are all suited to similar positions, suggesting the Reds may need to offload some players before making a move.
If Liverpool successfully signs Kvaratskhelia, they would be bringing him together with fellow Georgian and summer 2025 acquisition Giorgi Mamardashvili. The duo excelled for their country at the Euro 2024, leading to Mamardashvili’s move to Anfield post-tournament. He is set to remain at Valencia for a season prior to joining Liverpool for the beginning of the 2025/26 season.
According to eScored, it’s understandable for any club in Europe to show interest in Kvaratskhelia. Nevertheless, Liverpool could face more significant challenges if Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, or Trent Alexander-Arnold leave on free transfers next summer, making those players, or those in similar roles, more of a priority at the moment.
