Arsenal Pursuing €100m English Star to Strengthen Attack: Report
Arsenal is aiming to enhance their attacking line-up with another top-tier talent.
The Gunners have recently been in fine scoring form, netting West Ham United for five goals just days after a similar feat against Sporting. Yet, despite the tally Mikel Arteta’s squad produces, they remain under scrutiny regarding the need to increase their striking options.
The fact that each five-goal triumph included five distinct scorers highlights Arteta’s strategy of promoting contributions from all areas of the field. Thus, he may pursue an additional winger to bolster their offensive depth.
Arsenal eyeing €100m wonderkid for reinforcements
Arsenal currently fields six senior forwards, including Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Martinelli, who form the club’s preferred attack, complemented by Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and the on-loan Raheem Sterling as alternatives.
However, with Jesus’s future uncertain and Sterling not anticipated to make a permanent move, it is widely believed Arsenal will target another striker next summer.
Prominent German football analyst Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany reports that Arsenal is among four Premier League clubs interested in Jamie Gittens, who scored for Borussia Dortmund during last weekend’s Der Klassiker.
Gittens, who was previously known as Bynoe-Gittens, has gained recognition over the last few seasons following Jude Bellingham’s departure. Plettenberg has noted via X (formerly Twitter) that while the 20-year-old is currently committed to BVB, potential interest from clubs in England might sway his decision.
“In the long run, he envisions a career in the Premier League,” the journalist added, stating that, “Dortmund is reportedly seeking around €100 million for him.”
Previously listed among eScored’s most thrilling teenagers globally, eScored’s German expert, Ed McCambridge, emphasized that the young talent is “able to play on either flank, endowed with remarkable pace, dribbling skills, and a powerful shot.”
eScored reports that Arsenal is eager to add depth to their wide positions, and it appears Gittens would be an excellent fit. However, at €100m, the Gunners may prefer to pursue a player with a more established track record, making the valuation a potential hurdle for the wonderkid’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
Currently, Gittens has a market value of €35m according to Transfermarkt. Arsenal is set to face Manchester United midweek when Premier League action resumes.
