38 Players Who Will Be Suspended from Boxing Day Matches if They Receive a Yellow Card This Weekend

The festive fixtures in the Premier League are coming rapidly, and numerous players find themselves in jeopardy of missing their teams’ Boxing Day matches due to an overindulgent Christmas Day.

Players in the Premier League who accumulate five yellow cards in their first 19 games face a one-match suspension. With a complete slate of fixtures lined up this weekend, at least 38 players are currently on four bookings.

Rayan Ait-Nouri, the defender for Wolverhampton Wanderers, also finds himself with four bookings but will be eligible to play in their Boxing Day match against Manchester United after serving a suspension this weekend.

This weekend’s yellow cards could significantly affect the upcoming festive fixtures at the top of the Premier League, where leaders Liverpool have three players who are under threat of suspension if they play against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Darwin Nunez, Ibrahima Konate, and Ryan Gravenberch are all currently on four yellow cards. While Konate has been sidelined for all of December due to a knee injury, Gravenberch has missed only 23 minutes of Premier League action this season.

For Chelsea, avoiding yellow cards will be vital in both defense and attack as they face Everton on Saturday. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and forward Nicolas Jackson are each one yellow card away from incurring a one-match suspension.

Arsenal heads to Crystal Palace on Saturday with the risk of suspension looming over Gabriel Jesus, who netted a hat-trick against the Eagles in the Carabao Cup this past Wednesday.

Other players close to facing a suspension include Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, Justin Kluivert from Bournemouth, Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, and Bernardo Silva of Manchester City.

Should fourth-placed Nottingham Forest face Tottenham on Boxing Day, they would be without Nicolas Dominguez, Neco Williams, and Ryan Yates if they each received their fifth yellow card during the match against Brentford on Saturday.

West Ham United top the naughty list for Christmas, with five players – Edson Alvarez, Lucas Paqueta, Guido Rodriguez, Carlos Soler, and Tomas Soucek – each on four yellow cards. The Hammers are set to play Brighton at home on Saturday and then Southampton away on Boxing Day.

Four players from Leicester City are similarly at risk as they prepare to face Wolves and Liverpool in their next two fixtures. Jordan Ayew, Wilfred Ndidi, Oliver Skipp, and Jamie Vardy have four yellow cards each.

Here’s the complete list of players who could potentially face a suspension on Boxing Day.

Be on the lookout for a cheap yellow card for one of these players this weekend.
