Liverpool Update: Pursuit of Superstar Striker Intensifies with Confirmation of ‘Concrete Interest’
It has been confirmed that Liverpool is actively seeking to recruit another striker to enhance their squad, despite their impressive performance recently.
The Reds dominated Manchester City yesterday at Anfield, just days following their victory over European champions Real Madrid by the same score. Arne Slot’s team appears to be in remarkable form, with goals coming from all angles.
However, with the situation surrounding Mohamed Salah remaining unclear, Liverpool is not taking their success for granted – and are eager to bring in additional quality in the attacking department.
Liverpool’s interest confirmed as Slot aims to strengthen his squad
Liverpool currently boasts various attacking options, with Slot successfully utilizing his front players.
Salah and Luis Diaz have been near-constant presences for the Reds this season, while Cody Gakpo has played predominantly on the left wing – yet the center-forward role remains unsettled, as Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez have both fluctuated in availability. Recently, Diaz has taken on a central position.
Despite having several attacking players, German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the club is pursuing Omar Marmoush of Eintracht Frankfurt.
With reports of discussions between Liverpool and the Egyptian, Plettenberg has previously indicated that the forward would “immediately accept” a transfer to Anfield, enjoying a standout season in the Bundesliga.
Marmoush has found the net 13 times this season and enjoys a friendship with compatriot Salah.
While signing Marmoush could be viewed as a potential replacement for the Anfield legend – whose individual Premier League performance against Manchester City in 2021 was recently listed at no.22 in eScored’s rankings of the top individual performances in football history – the deal may also serve as an incentive for Salah to extend his stay.
eScored has confirmed that interest in Marmoush is legitimate, with only financial aspects yet to be settled – however, there remains ample time until the summer transfer window. Interests in targets are likely to fluctuate in the coming months, and nothing is finalized yet, but the pursuit is gaining traction.
The 25-year-old is valued at €22m by Transfermarkt, with his contract set to run until 2027. Liverpool will face Newcastle United midweek when Premier League action resumes.
A standout player in the Bundesliga this season, with 13 goals in 12 matches for an Eintracht Frankfurt team competing at the top of the table. While Harry Kane may have scored more than the Egyptian, no player has contributed to more goals overall, aided by his seven assists.
Marmoush is an ideal forward, capable of delivering defense-splitting passes and intricate runs, in addition to fine scoring. Approaching his 26th birthday in February, he is sure to attract significant interest next summer.
