Ruben Amorim Shares Heartfelt Thoughts Following the Decision to Bench Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho

Ruben Amorim has cautioned Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho that they must maintain their performance levels, particularly as many staff members at Manchester United are facing job losses due to financial issues.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reported to have approved approximately 250 staff reductions since his minority takeover earlier this year, part of an effort to cut costs throughout the organization.

Amorim communicated to key players , both of whom were omitted from the squad that , that they cannot take their positions lightly while many within the club are under considerable strain and experiencing uncertainty.

“For me, what matters is the training performance, the game performance, the way you present yourself, the way you eat, how you interact with your teammates, and how you encourage them,” Amorim stated.

“Every detail is crucial in our present situation, especially at the onset of significant changes when individuals at our club are losing their jobs. We need to elevate our standards, and for that, they must strive for their place in the team.”

“Today we demonstrated that anyone can be left out of the squad, and success is possible if we work together.”

Amorim added: “It’s crucial to clarify that this decision wasn’t disciplinary. Next week, for the next game, is a fresh start and they will be competing for their places.”

“There are minor details that need addressing. This isn’t about discipline; it’s about training and game performance, which dictates my selections. Jonny Evans performed exceptionally well but was also left out. He is crucial for us. If it were a disciplinary issue, I’d be transparent about it, and it would be a more significant concern, but it wasn’t.”
