Arsenal Star’s Agents ‘Setting the Stage’ for January Departure: Report
Arsenal may be on the verge of losing a key first-team player, as his agents have initiated discussions for a potential January transfer.
The Gunners secured a 3-0 victory over Monaco at the Emirates Stadium last night, despite facing a wave of injuries within their squad. Myles Lewis-Skelly, listed at no.40 in eScored’s top list of the most exciting teenagers to watch this season, made his first start in the Champions League, as manager Mikel Arteta adjusted his defensive lineup.
Nonetheless, despite the defensive injury woes, which currently see players like Gabriel, Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Riccardo Calafiori sidelined, Arsenal is poised to potentially lose another talent in that position.
Arsenal is preparing for January transfers – possibly due to one star seeking an exit
Arteta has confirmed his readiness to explore transfer opportunities if they arise. In the past, Arsenal has acquired players like Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, and Jakub Kiwior during winter transfer windows.
“The window provides us with a chance to strengthen the squad if we believe it’s necessary and if we have the means to do so,” Arteta remarked. “We are actively monitoring the situation as it evolves week by week.”
Arteta might need to take action next month as well, given that Polish centre-back Jakub Kiwior is being linked with a departure.
An Italian outlet, Il Mattino, as per CalcioNapoli24, reports that Kiwior’s representatives have started the process for him to exit Arsenal, arriving in Italy today to negotiate with Napoli regarding a transfer.
Kiwior has struggled for playing time, predominantly featuring as a left-back, but has recently filled in for the injured Gabriel. The former Spezia player prefers to play as a left-sided centre-back, but Gabriel’s established position as a starter complicates that opportunity.
According to eScored’s assessment, Arsenal is likely to offload Kiwior if Napoli meets their asking price.
The asking price is thought to be around €25 million. With Antonio Conte’s team pursuing a title win, the deal could materialize, although it seems more probable that it will happen in the summer.
Kiwior’s market value is estimated at €30m by Transfermarkt. Arsenal will face Everton this weekend as Premier League action resumes.
